Dear Organica Deluxe Friends-
I finally found something my 12-year-old daughter and I can
agree on….every time. It’s hip and cool, fun and functional and
all her friends want one. It doesn’t even bother her that every
3 year old in the neighborhood loves it too! Our new thermal
lunchbox coolers are officially the bomb!
My 3 kids use them for everything – sleepovers, lunch, pool,
car trips, afternoons at the park and we are packing several for
our upcoming beach adventure. They also make wonderful
birthday party gifts. Great by themselves or you can tuck a
little surprise inside and tie a ribbon around the handle. Let’s
save money and trees by buying, giving and using these totes.
Obviously fun, these multi-use bags express our company’s core
mission of sustainability. Made by a women’s cooperative in the
Philippines, they use “Pre-Consumer “waste packaging gathered
from juice container manufacturers that would otherwise be
headed for landfills.

Green Thumb or Not – gardening is a 2009 must-do! Most of us are a little anxious with the current economy and I for one love the idea of spending time outdoors making something more beautiful. It can reduce stress, burn a few calories and the end result gives us something to share with others. Flowers, vegetables, and herbs are fun to grow and good for everyone.

Wendy and I have discussed blogging for the last few months – wondering if our customers and fans are interested in verbal commentary about Organica Deluxe.

I love to read to my three little kids. This happens in my house at the end of the day – no more teeth to brush, rules to follow – just cuddling and learning. We usually take turns picking out books and recently discovered a new book that all of us enjoyed.
The “Adventures of a Plastic Water Bottle” is aptly named and is a great little example of the recycling journey. The book is made with 100% postconsumer waste recycled paper and printed with vegetable based ink.
It is written by Alison Inches and I found it at my local bookstore. Organica Deluxe may stock in the future but in the meantime check http://www.indiebound.org/ for availability.
Design for a Living World Exhibit
Don’t we all aspire to make a difference?
I recently learned about the new exhibit “Design for a Living World” - that is now being exhibited at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York.
The museum commissioned 10 impressive artists to work with natural materials and the results are wow. I loved checking out the images and online story behind the creation at http://www.nature.org/design/. (Be patient while it uploads – the wait is worth it.) The work is fabulous and I can’t wait to go to New York and see these inspirational beauties in person.
